Our
greatest challenge in realizing our vision will be to reach
our downpayment objective. We ask that each of you be in prayer
and that you ask God for His direction in helping you decide
how much you can pledge to the project. God will not
be looking for equal giving, but for equal sacrifice. Each
of us has a different ability to give because of the nature
of our work and our circumstances. However, each family is
asked to consider making a pledge that represents sacrificial
giving. God is more concerned about the sacrifice of our heart
than the size of our cheque.
God's Word (New Living Translation) gives us some direction
on giving:
Luke 21
1While Jesus was in the Temple, he
watched the rich people putting their gifts into the collection
box. 2Then a poor widow came by and
dropped in two pennies. 3I
assure you, he said, this poor
widow has given more than all the rest of them. 4For
they have given a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor
as she is, has given everything she has.
2 Corinthians 9
6Remember this
- a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop.
But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.
7You
must each make up your own mind as to how much you should
give. Don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For
God loves the person who gives cheerfully.
With God's blessing we will undertake a stewartship campaign
to accumulate our down payment.
